From winery tours to water sports to local eats and great shopping, the unofficial capital of the beautiful Okanagan region has something for everyone. But before traveling to Kelowna there are a few things you should know! Keep reading for travel tips, where to find the best food and drinks, how to find the best deals at the Kanata Okanagan Hotel and Conference Centre and more!
What to See When Traveling Kelowna, BC
Whether you like to carefully plan your trips or stroll carefree and see where your trip takes you, Kelowna has something for everyone. For a day of casual strolling, we recommend exploring Kelowna’s downtown core and City Park. Downtown and City Park are both a quick 9-minute drive from the Kanata Inn Kelowna. Museums, culture, great eats, nightlife, and the park-lined lakefront make it a must-stop for travelers.
In addition to checking out the downtown core, we recommend taking in a wine tour during your trip. The best Kelowna wine tours and craft tours are offered all year round. After taking in a single or multi-day wine tour in the area, cleanse your palate at the Okanagan Lavender Farm. Rows and rows of over 60 types of lavender sway in the breeze against the mountainous background and Okanagan Lake. Take some time to walk through the farm and browse the shop for locally made lavender products ranging from lavender lemonade to bath products.
What to Eat When Traveling Kelowna, BC
Kelowna BC offers some great eats and drinks. If you’re looking to experience the region’s local wine, produce and eats, we recommend stopping by RauDZ Regional Table. This casual bistro offers farm-to-table eats in an airy, open dining space. Checking out the Old Train Station Public House is also a must-do on your trip! The 1926 Canadian National train station has been transformed into an upscale pub with great food and an excellent selection of beers. Looking for a great local spot to grab a coffee and people watch after an adventurous day downtown? Check out the local favourite O’Lake Café and Bistro.
Exploring the Great Canadian Outdoors in Kelowna, BC
We may be biased, but we think no trip in Canada is complete without taking some time to explore the great Canadian outdoors! When you stay at a top Okanagan Hotel, adventure spots outside the city are a quick drive away.
The Myra Canyon Park is 30 minutes from the Kanata and 24km from downtown. Rent a bike or take a hike through the most scenic portion of the Kettle Valley Railway. The railway runs along a steep canyon and takes you through 2 tunnels and 18 trestle bridges with views too spectacular to describe. Or, you can even go on a guided tour of the area by bike. The views of the scenic Okanagan will be a memory you’ll never forget. For a closer adventure, we recommend checking out Knox Mountain Park. A quicker 15-minute drive from the Kanata, Knox offers hikers a short trail to the top. A local favourite, the top of Knox has breathtaking views overlooking Kelowna and Okanagan Lake.
